Project Prognosis: Excellent. Our group met today, and I must say, we accomplished a lot. Our digital movie is going to be musical, poetic, colorful, imaginative, unexpected, original, and yes--artsy.
We have a pretty decent storyboard going--we know what images we want, and we now have to go out and get them. Easy enough, right?
We're taking a pretty cliche idea and turning it on its head. The song we've chosen as the basis for our movie is completely off-the-wall, totally unique. Fiona Apple is not your average songwriter, and her lyrics have so much depth and meaning. There's a million different things we could do, and I think the more options we have, the better our project will be.
So, bottom line: if you think you know what we're going to do, think again. If you're expecting a conventional music video, don't. Get ready for something fabuloussss!

I love Fiona Apple! Which song are you going to use? I guess you might not want to share since there's some mystery surrounding your project. My group is trying to put together a soundtrack too...we are choosing not to use a narrator, so it should be interesting. I remember that Murch said music shouldn't try to evoke a particular emotion, but it should almost re-affirm it after the scene has established an emotion. I'm not sure how to achieve that exactly, but I'm looking forward to seeing your use of music!
ReplyDeleteI love Fiona Apple too! I cannot wait to see what song you chose and what your video is going to look like. Are you going with a story line to go with the song? That would be so fun to do with a Fiona Apple song. How are you going to separate it from a music video? This idea sounds so cool and I'm interested to see where you take it.
